PAKISTAN – Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) and Bahauddin Zakariya University Multan Pakistan (BZU Pakistan) exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on April 18, 2017 to step up the efforts to further foster the academic relationship between both universities.
The ceremony was held at the Committee room of BZU Pakistan at Vice Chancellor Office. MoU was exchanged during 2nd International Research Conference on Economics Business and Social Sciences, April 17-18, 2017 which has been continuity of the ongoing collaboration between UUM; BZU Pakistan and Center for Sustainability Research and Consultancy Pakistan.
UUM was represented by the Assistant Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Yusnidah Ibrahim and BZU Pakistan was represented by the Director School of Economics, Prof. Dr. Imran Sharif Chaudhry.
Also present at the ceremony at BZU Pakistan were Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr. Bashir Ahmad; Registrar, Prof. Dr. Mutahir Iqbal; Director of Institute of Management Sciences, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nauman Abbasi; Chairperson, Department of Commerce, Prof. Dr. Rehana Kausar; President of Center for Sustainability and Research and Consultancy Pakistan, Prof. Dr. Hayat M. Awan; and Associate Fellow, CSRC Sulaman Hafeez Siddiqui.
After exchanging MoU, the same official also inaugurated the first Emerging Markets Research Lab at School of Economics, BZU Pakistan.
The research lab is the collaboration between CSRC; BZU Pakistan and UUM to enable and strengthen research and action initiatives between partner institutions.
Assistant Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Yusnidah Ibrahim stated that the BZU Pakistan is the first University from Pakistan whom UUM has signed MoU with.
She further mentioned that the academic collaboration between UUM and BZU Pakistan is the beginning of an era of academic cooperation between institutions of two brotherly countries and this should be sustained to ensure the continuity and mutuality of the academic collaborative efforts.
This MoU will further strengthen the relationship between Malaysia and Pakistan and will open the doors for innumerable internationalization programs including the inbound and outbound faculty and student mobility exchange programs for the years 2016-2020.
Meanwhile, the Acting Vice Chancellor of BZU Pakistan, Prof. Dr. Bashri Ahmad stated that BZU Pakistan is very pleased and honored to be given the opportunity to work closely with UUM to mutually excel in the higher education and research.
He further added that, both universities must work together to reestablish the good cooperation between the two countries by engaging in activities including the student mobility programs, improving the quality of education, conducting joint research projects and fostering mutual understanding among young people in the two countries.
Assistant Vice Chancellor, UUM and Acting Vice Chancellor, BZU Pakistan appreciated the role of leadership and fellows of CSRC for enabling academic collaboration and fostering research activities between both universities.
